Invisalign and Traditional Orthodontics

Your smile is an outer expression of the inner you and a wonderful gift you can share with the world. However, all too often, there’s something like tooth misalignment that we feel detracts from the confident, polished appearance we want to project.

If this sounds familiar, our general dentist, Dr. Holly Baller, would love to meet with you and discuss the orthodontic options we offer at our Aurora dental office. Dr. Baller’s passion for orthodontics started during her undergraduate college years and continued to develop through dental school and hundreds of hours of continuing education to this very day.

Dr. Baller is a general dentist that practices orthodontics. Although she is not an orthodontist, she has 17 years of experience in the orthodontic field. She has trained next to a prominent local orthodontist in addition to countless hours of continuing education.

Today, her passion and commitment to whole-body health, myofunction, and airway orthodontics make her a sought-after consultant for dentists and orthodontists throughout the country.

Straight Teeth Are Healthier Teeth

Many adults who want to straighten crooked teeth have their smile’s aesthetics in mind; however, the benefits of having straight teeth go far beyond aesthetics.

  • Make it easy to brush and floss and help avoid cavities and gum disease.
  • Help reduce dental wear and breakage.
  • Help you chew comfortably and speak clearly.
  • Prevent injury to protruding teeth.
  • Address bite problems that lead to teeth grinding and TMJ pain

With advances in dental technology and the materials available, you can expect modern braces to be smaller, sleeker, and more comfortable than ever before.

Adult Orthodontics with Invisalign Clear Braces

Invisalign clear braces are perfect for adults and older teens in Aurora who want straight teeth without committing to metal braces. Instead of brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear, comfortable plastic aligners that are discreet, removable, and nearly invisible when worn.

Dr. Baller is a certified Invisalign Dentist in Aurora and uses digital imaging software to plan treatment for your unique situation. You will receive a series of Invisalign aligners with instructions to wear them 22 hours a day for 2-3 weeks. During this time, the aligners are nudging your teeth into the optimal position mapped out by our Invisalign dentist.

The longer you wear your aligners each day, the faster you will see the results you desire.

Dr. Baller was just awarded Platinum Invisalign Status and is in the Top 1% of Invisalign General Dentists in the country!

Orthodontics for Adults and Children

For children and adults with more complex tooth misalignment or bite issues, Dr. Baller would recommend traditional orthodontics.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have an orthodontic evaluation between ages seven and nine. Most kids have their permanent molars at this age, and the way these teeth emerge indicates future growth patterns.

Not all children need braces, of course, but early orthodontic intervention such as space maintainers, retainers, and palatal expanders can minimize or eliminate the need for full orthodontic treatment in the future.

Myobrace for Children

Many children benefit from a leading-edge orthodontic technique called Myobrace that uses a child’s natural growth to minimize the need for braces in the future. Customized to correct oral habits like mouth breathing or tongue thrusting, the goal of Myobrace treatment in Aurora is to retrain muscles that may be the underlying cause of crooked teeth.

Airway Orthodontics and Sleep Apnea

Airway health dentistry focuses on diagnosing the underlying cause of sleep apnea and uses various methods to correct them. In some cases, breathing issues are caused by tooth misalignment and malocclusion (bite problems). Often, correcting them with orthodontics can dramatically improve the way you breathe.

Frequently Asked Questions

There have many advancements in the way Aurora dentists like Dr. Baller view and approach orthodontic issues. We can always address tooth misalignment and bite issues (malocclusions) after they occur, but it is easier for your child if we take steps now to prevent them.

What's Involved with an Orthodontic Evaluation?

At Baller Dental & Orthodontics at Southlands, we agree with the recommendation of the American Association of Orthodontists that states children should have an orthodontic evaluation by age seven. At this age, permanent molars have arrived and help us predict growth patterns that might lead to crooked or crowded teeth in the future.

The goal of interceptive orthodontics at our Aurora dental office is to take advantage of your child’s natural growth phase. Using appliances like space maintainers, palatal expanders, and retainers, Dr. Baller can actually help influence the development of your child’s jaw. The goal of these appliances is to create sufficient space in the jaw for all teeth to erupt in the proper position.

Schedule Your Child's Orthodontic Evaluation

Early orthodontic treatment can shorten treatment times, and in some cases, eliminate the need for braces completely. If your child is between the ages of five and seven and hasn’t had an orthodontic evaluation, call our Aurora dental office to schedule an appointment.

Myobrace is an alternative orthodontic treatment that uses a child’s natural growth patterns to minimize the need for braces in the future.

Why Our Dentist Recommends Myobrace

The difference between the Myobrace system and other orthodontic treatment options is that the goal isn’t to straighten crooked teeth. Instead, using a system of Myobrace appliances, it aims to correct oral habits like mouth breathing and tongue thrusting that may be the underlying cause of crooked teeth and underdeveloped jaws.

Myobrace treatment in Aurora combines appliance therapy with a series of myofunctional exercises that the child performs each day. For children between the ages of 6-10, Dr. Baller would recommend wearing a Myobrace appliance overnight and then for one to two hours each day.

Myobrace provides the dual function of retraining oral musculature and exerting gentle forces on the teeth to align them into their proper position. To provide optimal alignment, fixed braces are required for a short period.

Can Your Child Benefit from Myobrace Treatment?

The Myobrace treatment system has been in use for over 20 years and successfully treated millions of children worldwide.

At Baller Dental & Orthodontics at Southlands in Aurora, CO, Dr. Baller uses Myobrace to help parents and kids avoid the need for extended treatment with traditional braces. Please call to schedule an appointment to see if your child can benefit from Myobrace.

Invisalign and Traditional Orthodontics Technology

iTero 3-D Digital Scanner

Remember the last time you had dental impressions taken? You probably had to sit with a large metal tray filled with goopy impression paste clutched between your teeth, waiting patiently for it to set. These impressions were not always accurate and, worse yet, they were often uncomfortable for the patient. The iTero 3-D Digital scanner not only eliminates this unpleasant step but also gives us a much more precise representation of your teeth.

The iTero Digital Scanner produces a digital map, which Dr. Baller uses to create 3-D images of your mouth. As she scans your mouth, you can view the images as they appear on your chairside monitor. Digital scanning technology allows us to produce a highly accurate and detailed model of your teeth that we then use to plan treatment for Invisalign and dental restorations.
